Software Engineer

Job Description

Software EngineerJoin the team behind PRO-TECH TITAN, an industry-leading software platform serving the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Our solutions help customers manage the complete project lifecycle, from estimating and detailing doors, frames, and hardware to procurement, installation, and project completion. As a Software Engineer, you'll play a significant role in designing, building, and evolving enterprise software that powers real-world construction projects. You'll collaborate with a talented team of engineers, contribute directly to product direction, and help shape the next generation of solutions used by customers across North America. This position is based in Phoenix, Arizona.What You'll DoAs a key member of the engineering team, you'll contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.You'll be trusted to take ownership of features and components, collaborate across teams, and help drive technical decisions that shape our products and platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain software using Java, SQL, HTML, and JavaScript.Analyze and estimate requested software enhancements and feature changes.Design and implement scalable solutions within a large, multi-language enterprise codebase.Participate in architectural discussions and identify paths toward future platform evolution.Develop and enhance integrations across internal and external applications.Help define and improve automated testing capabilities through thoughtful software design.Evaluate development, testing, and productivity tools to improve team effectiveness.Contribute to the extension and modernization of application capabilities, including mobile and cloud-based solutions.Identify technical and environmental requirements for successful customer deployments.Maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and development best practices.Stay informed about emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to our products.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree, coding bootcamp completion, or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Strong experience with object-oriented programming using Java.Experience with Java enterprise technologies, including: Spring Framework, Hibernate / JPA, Jetty or similar servlet containers.Proficiency with build and dependency management tools such as Maven and Gradle.Strong working knowledge of Git and modern source control practices.Experience using IntelliJ IDEA.Experience working with SQL databases, including: Writing and optimizing SQL queries, JDBC connectivity, ORM-based data access patterns.Strong understanding of object-oriented, component-oriented, and service-oriented design principles.Experience with GWT and SmartGWT, preferably SmartGWT Enterprise 14.1, including both client-side and server-side development.Professional CompetenciesDemonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Can effectively bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams.Thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities.Works effectively with individuals across varying levels of technical expertise.Excels both independently and as a collaborative team member.Balances strong self-motivation with a commitment to team success.Takes ownership of problems and drives solutions through completion.Preferred QualificationsExperience developing commercial software products sold to external customers.Experience gathering and responding to customer feedback and product enhancement requests.Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.Experience with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks.Linux server administration and command-line experience.Experience with cloud platforms such as: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Our Technology StackFrontend: GWT SmartGWT Enterprise 14.1, DataSource-driven UI architectureBackend: Java 25, Spring Framework 7, Spring Security 7, Hibernate 7, RESTful APIs, SmartGWT DMI, JettyData & Persistence: SQL Databases, JDBC, HQL / JPQL, HikariCP Connection PoolingBuild & DevOps: Maven (Multi-Module Architecture), GitLab CI/CD, Docker, SonarQube, AWS Deployments, Testing: TestNG, Parallel Test ExecutionWe are the ASSA ABLOY GroupOur people have made us the global leader in access solutions.
