Job Summary:

The Commercial Diver / Tender’s prime responsibility is to support construction activities by performing work as directed by the Project Manager / Diver Supervisor.

Education:

Diploma from ADCE Compliant Commercial Dive School

Current ADCI Certification for the type of diving being performed

Current ADCI Compliant Dive Physical

Current First Aid, CPR, AED, Oxygen Administration Certifications

OSHA 10 Hour - Construction

Valid Driver’s License with current driving record free from serious or frequent violation

Experience:

1+ years’ experience working in commercial diving operations

Heavy equipment operation (if qualified)

Skills:

Ability to read and follow dive tables (air and nitrox), altitude tables, treatment tables, etc.

Ability to check and maintain diving equipment such as helmets, masks, air tanks, harness, and gauges.

Good hand-eye coordination

Adequate hearing to receive and understand safety instructions

Clear communication with surface workers and divers

Ability to cut and weld steel using underwater equipment

Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools for construction

Ability to work at heights up to 50’ or more

Ability to work in confined or enclosed spaces

Climb ladders or steps to reach objects

Wear appropriate PPE

Lift items overhead and walk moderate distances

Operate equipment from operator’s seat with full instrument visibility

Learn job-related material mainly through on-the-job training

Follow oral and written instructions; maintain safety mindset

Team player willing to travel and work away from home

Positive attitude and willingness to learn, with good communication

Responsibilities:

Equipment set-up and breakdown

Equipment load-out and maintenance

Jetting / Dredging

Dive tending

Rack box operation

In-water work assignments

Decompression chamber operations

Inspection with video documentation

Burning / welding operation (wet or dry)

Hand and power tool operation

Pneumatic / hydraulic tool operation (wet or dry)

Percussion tool operation (wet or dry)

Saws and other cutting tools (wet or dry)

Crane rigging and signaling (wet or dry)

Placing flags or barricades

Equipment spotting

Salvage or environmental operations

Additional duties as directed

Physical Demands / Working Environment:

Move heavy objects (94 lbs. or more) short distances

Move light objects (less than 94 lbs.) long distances

Work long shifts with non-standard break times

Sit or stand for long periods

Field environment with varying weather

Lifting and pulling required

Exposure to weather and elements

Union Rates:

$25-$45/per hour

Qualifications (Instruction-related section retained):

Master\'s Degree in discipline or 18 credits in the specific discipline. Prefer teaching experience at the college level. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities and cultures. Experience with instructional technology preferred.

Responsible for instruction and facilitating student learning; committed to student recruitment, retention and success; assessment of learning, development of curriculum and use of instructional delivery modes utilizing both traditional and non-traditional methodology.

Teach assigned course which may include day, night, and online courses, as well as at the main campus and extension centers. Classes are to meet on time for the full allotted time.

Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximize documented student learning.

Prepare, submit and maintain reports related to student learning.

Grading assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students, meeting or beating all institutional deadlines for completion.

Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled and posted times (i.e., office hours) or by appointment.

Encourage student opinion survey completion for each class and then reviewed after summary information available to assist with increasing student success.

Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training or hour.

Perform other duties as assigned.
