Material Handler

The Material Handler transports product between warehouse facilities in the South Park area of Seattle and supports the material handling team with accurate and efficient movement of goods. This fast-paced role involves pulling orders, scanning products with a tablet-based system, and loading and unloading trucks using pallet jacks and forklifts. The position requires strong attention to detail, reliable attendance, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with peers and supervisors. The schedule for this full-time swing shift role is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Transport product between warehouse facilities in the South Park area of Seattle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assist with loading and unloading product using pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Pull orders from shelves by hand, matching SKUs and verifying product accuracy with high attention to detail.
  • Scan products and log warehouse movements using a tablet and computer-based inventory system.
  • Backfill other team activities, including material requisition and receiving, as needed.
  • Unload and load trucks and move pallets and boxes within the warehouse and between nearby facilities.
  • Support operations at a nearby warehouse when directed, maintaining consistent productivity across locations.
  • Work at a time-efficient, productive pace without direct supervision, staying busy even during slower periods.
  • Maintain a high level of hustle and urgency during busy times to keep up with workflow and production demands.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with peers and supervisors through clear communication and a professional demeanor.
  • Follow established warehouse and receiving processes to ensure safe, organized, and efficient handling of materials.
  • Use hand trucks and pallet jacks to move heavy items safely throughout the facility.
  • Produce quality work at a fast pace while standing for extended periods and handling a high volume of product.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines when lifting up to 50 pounds and operating material handling equipment.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent warehouse operations.
  • Utilize basic math skills to verify quantities, match SKUs, and confirm order accuracy.
  • Learn and use the companys tablet and computer programs to track inventory and complete warehouse transactions.
  • Maintain an organized work area and contribute to overall warehouse cleanliness and efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing, when interacting with co-workers, suppliers, and customers as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in material handling, picking, packing, production, and order picking in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Experience operating sit-down forklifts and using pallet jacks and hand trucks.
  • Valid drivers license with a good motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to stand on feet all day and work in a very physically demanding, heavy environment.
  • Knowledge of basic warehouse and receiving processes and procedures.
  • Ability to produce quality work at a fast pace while handling a high volume of product safely and efficiently.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and stay productive without direct supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills when matching SKUs, verifying orders, and logging movements.
  • Professional demeanor when working with co-workers, suppliers, and customers when necessary.
  • Ability to clearly read, write, and comprehend English for instructions, documentation, and communication.
  • Comfort using tablets and computers, with the ability to learn and navigate new software programs.
  • Demonstrated hustle and ability to move quickly and maintain a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills for counting, verifying quantities, and checking orders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Box truck driving experience, with the expectation of driving after permanent hire.
  • Ability to work swing shift hours, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, warehouse operations.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy in scanning, picking, and inventory tracking.
  • Comfort working both during very busy periods and slower times, proactively finding tasks to stay productive.
  • Interest in long-term career growth, including potential opportunities to move to a new site in Longview and step into lead roles.
  • Willingness to learn die cast and machine operation processes as future opportunities arise.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support different areas of the warehouse as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in South Seattle warehouse facilities with a swing shift schedule of 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
