Software Engineer (C / C++)Location: Camden Waterfront Campus, New Jersey, NY.Industry: Aerospace / Aviation / DefenseSecurity Clearance: Required and active (U.S. citizenship required).Salary Range: $100,000 - $175,000Relocation Assistance is available along with a sign on bonus for the right people.Based onsite.Job DescriptionWe are looking for a talented and experienced embedded Software Engineer to guide the next generation of mission-critical national security systems. You will have a strong background in modern computer architecture, hardware bring-up and debugging, development of low-level embedded system-software including custom drivers, board support packages, and bootloader.What you will do and be responsible for:Develop device drivers and board support packages for custom embedded systemsDiagnosis and debugging of complex hardware-software boundary issuesDevelop software to test manufactured circuit boards and diagnose manufacturing or design issuesParticipate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defectsWork closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, operational performance, and design of the overall systemSupport and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware-software integration, and formal testInvestigate root causes of complex issues, and implement solutions, working independently or with a multi-discipline teamDevelop software test plans and procedures, and other relevant technical documentationWe are looking for people with the below experience:U.S. citizenship with an Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearanceDegree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science etcIdeally over 8 years experience in software developmentIdeally over 5+ years of experience developing and debugging drivers, BSPs, bootloaders, bare-metal applications, or other low-level development in embedded systemsExperience with development of embedded systems in C/C++, assembly, and/or RustExcellent oral and written communication skillsExperience developing embedded Linux systemsProven experience developing device drivers and board support packages for modern RTOSs (Integrity, VxWorks, Zepher, seL4, Yocto)Proven experience with hardware bring-up on prototype or first-run hardwareExperience building and customizing Yocto/OE or buildroot based Linux distributions, deep knowledge of BitBake, device trees, and the Linux Kernel ideal, but not required.Strong understanding of standard interface protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, AXI, PCI/PCIeThis is a great opportunity to work closely with a leading defence business and work along side a talented team developing tomorrows defence systems, there are excellent career opportunities and a great place to progress your career and experience.
