Job Description

POSITION TITLE: PROGRAM COORDINATOR (Bi-lingual, Eng/Spa)

REPORTS TO: Mission: NOVA Site Director

STATUS: Full-Time (40 hours/week, may vary)

LOCATION: Mission: NOVA (Arlington, VA)

HOURLY RANGE: $18.50-22.00/hour with full benefits, including paid holidays, health/dental insurance, etc.

SUMMARY: This position is an exciting opportunity to serve with one of the most respected and impactful organizations in the Washington, DC, area. Central Union Mission has been serving the homeless and low-income families in the DC area for 143 years. The Mission has some of the most strategic programs in the nation for combatting homelessness and poverty. The Program Coordinator will help ensure seamless delivery of services to those we serve in Northern Virginia.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (80%): Assist with food distributions and announcements.

Assist with facility management

Communicate program information and disseminate materials and flyers related to the Mission and special events.

Perform administrative procedures in the office related to checking in guests.

Coordinate program details with partner organizations, new and ongoing.

Keep program calendar current with upcoming programs.

Assist with translation

Sign up new program participants and assist with referrals.

Receive gift-in-kind donations and provide appropriate documentation.

Organize and file physical and electronic Mission materials and program information.

Clean up and maintain the office and food pantry.

Keep track of weekly food and clothing distributions.

Provide tours to orient and welcome visitors, partners, and clients.

Assist with and coordinate special events

Other duties as assigned by the site director and other Mission leadership.

OTHER (20%) Assist with unloading food and clothing donations.

Serve as driver's helper on food and clothing pick-ups.

REQUIREMENTS: Authorized to work in the United States

Ability to write and speak fluently in both English and Spanish

Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude.

Polite and kind demeanor

Ability to communicate program information, policy and procedures.

Work as a team player assisting co-workers, volunteers and program participants.

Problem solving skills with volunteer, partner, and client relations and with the facility and logistics.

Basic math and writing skills.

Ability to lift 40+ pounds.

Basic computer proficiency

Reliable and dependable.

EDUCATION REQUIREMNTS: Bachelors Degree in a related discipline, or similar

2 years' work experience in a service-related position

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical Demands: The position is generally physically active in nature and require standing, walking, lifting and ability to kneel down, stoop, bend at the waist, twist at the waist and reach, or sit for long periods of time.

Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, printers, multi-line phone systems).

Must have good vision to read a computer screen.

Ability to hear and speak to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to include repetitive keyboarding, grasping, and reaching to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and/or standard office equipment.

Agreement with and commitment to Central Union Mission's mission and statement of faith required. Committed Christian and currently active in a local Christian church required.

Experience using Microsoft 365

Driver's license preferred
