Veterinary Assistant For those who want to put their love of pets into action, a Veterinary Assistant at Banfield Pet Hospital works closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to support and assist in every stage of patient care.
Responsibilities Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service to clients and pets.
Use technical skills daily in accordance with state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.
Maintain the flow of patients and communicate with veterinarians and vet techs.
Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or technician assistance.
Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe and keep treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized.
Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care.
Mentor other members of the hospital team.
Qualifications Must be able to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‐approved veterinary assistant program at a level that increases practice efficiency.
Preferred education: Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
