We are proud of our mission to help our California Taxpayers file accurate tax returns and to fund important state services by maximizing the use of data collected from all sources, ensuring data integrity, and protecting taxpayer privacy with extract, transform, and load to respective data stores. As a Data Engineer, you will work collaboratively with teams to design, maintain, and implement complex data integration services for FTB's enterprise data stores. Apply your comprehensive understanding of the tools and techniques involved in data analysis and data integration such as data warehousing and data consolidation. You will be responsible for providing complex data and ad-hoc query support to business and technical partners throughout the department and building relationships with stakeholders, diverse groups, and teams. As a Data Engineer you will develop expert knowledge of FTB's enterprise systems, data architecture, data sources, and data integration best practices. You are expected to work cooperatively with the multiple levels of management and Technology Services Division (TSD) technical staff in support of planning and software implementation activities. Desirable Qualifications

Experience reading and understanding relational database Physical Data Models (PDM)

Experience in Azure DevOps and Azure Cloud skill sets

Experience writing and working with SQL queries or Unix/Linux scripts

Experience with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tools, methodologies, and processes

Knowledge and experience with ETL processes and tools such as IBM DataStage, Informatica, or Microsoft SSIS

Knowledge of Apache Hive or the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)

Knowledge of Big Data and data streaming tools such as JSON, Python, and HQL

Experience with the PySpark Data Framework

Knowledge and experience delivering and supporting data solutions

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues

Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, planning, collaboration, motivation, and negotiation skills

Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with technical staff and management

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment while demonstrating initiative, integrity, ownership, and accountability

Ability to work effectively by organizing multiple workloads and determining strategies to complete work on time

Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Azure DevOps/TFS, and SharePoint)

Knowledge of the Franchise Tax Board's legacy tax systems and functions
