Senior Software Engineer

SHOE SHOW, INC.,

the country’s largest privately held footwear retailer in business for 66 years with nearly 1,000 stores in 47 states, is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This position is available onsite in the corporate headquarters located in Concord, NC.

What you should know:

The

Senior Software Engineer

is responsible for developing and supporting the VB.NET applications that power SHOE SHOW, INC.'s Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and retail operations. The Senior .NET Software Developer designs and enhances software solutions, builds system integrations, troubleshoots application and database issues, and collaborates with business and IT teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure technology. Success in this role requires strong VB .NET development skills, experience with databases and system integrations, and the ability to provide technical support for business-critical applications.

What you will do:

Develop, maintain, and enhance .NET applications that support SHOE SHOW, INC., Point-of- Sale (POS) systems and retail operations.

Design and build software integrations, back-end services, and application interfaces.

Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, and system integration issues.

Support business-critical applications used by store locations and corporate teams.

Collaborate with IT, QA, and business stakeholders to deliver effective technical solutions.

Optimize application performance, reliability, security, and scalability.

Write, review, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes.

Participate in code reviews and follow software development best practices.

Document applications, system architecture, and technical processes.

Track, manage, and resolve support tickets through platforms such as Freshservice.

Provide technical support and assist end users with application-related issues.

Help ensure the ongoing stability and functionality of systems that support daily retail operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Experience: 10+ years of experience developing and supporting applications using C# and the VB.NET framework.

Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including queries and stored procedures.

Experience building and supporting APIs, integrations, and backend services.

Knowledge of software design principles and application architecture.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex application and performance issues.

Experience supporting business-critical systems in a fast-paced environment.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with both technical and business teams.

Preferred: Experience supporting Point-of-Sale (POS) or retail technology systems.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
