Job Description

Data Engineer Data ManagementBlu Omega is seeking a Data Engineer to support federal data modernization efforts. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining cloud-based data pipelines, ETL workflows, and database solutions within a mission-focused environment.Program Overview The program supports the modernization of the CaseTRAC system through technical design, development, testing, data integration, and operational-support activities.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, test, and maintain Python- and SQL-based data pipelines and ETL workflows.Support data integration and processing using AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and related services.Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models.Support database normalization, query optimization, and data integrity controls.Translate business and technical requirements into well-documented technical solutions.Investigate and resolve data quality, integration, and performance issues.Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution documentation, interface specifications, data-flow diagrams, and operational procedures.Participate in Agile ceremonies, manage Jira tasks, and collaborate with team members through code reviews and testing.Apply established development, security, testing, and documentation standards.Support delivery as an individual contributor without direct team management or technical leadership responsibilities.Required QualificationsProficiency developing data pipelines and ETL workflows using Python and SQL.Experience with database design, schema development, data modeling, normalization, and query optimization.Ability to translate business and technical requirements into technical solutions.Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and solution-design skills.Experience working within Agile or Scrum environments.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to create clear technical documentation and present technical information effectively.U.S. citizenship.Ability to work as a W-2 employee.Preferred QualificationsIntermediate experience gathering requirements in an Agile environment.Experience supporting the Department of Defense.Experience in secure, compliance-driven, government, or mission-focused environments.Familiarity with AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and related cloud services.Experience with Jira, Git, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.Exposure to data-quality monitoring, operational support, or cloud-native application development.AWS certification or relevant cloud training.Compensation Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.Blu Omega Benefits & PerksMedical, Dental, and Vision coverage through national providers401(k) with company match (eligible after 6 months; vesting applies)Company-paid Life and AD&D insurance with additional voluntary optionsShort-term disability (company-paid) and long-term disability optionsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) with 24/7 confidential support and mental health resourcesTelehealth and virtual care options available through medical plansPet insurance, legal services, and identity theft protection optionsPaid Time Off (PTO) for eligible employeesPaid federal holidays for salaried employeesAccess to wellness programs, discounts, and lifestyle benefitsBenefits eligibility and offerings may vary based on role, employment status, and program requirementsCompany Overview Blu Omega is a Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) delivering technology and cybersecurity solutions to federal agencies and enterprise clients nationwide.
