API Architect

Technical Leader for Wealth Management & Investment Services U.S. Bank is looking for a motivated and experienced technical leader to be a key player in changing how we deliver technology for our Wealth Management & Investment Services business. This person will have a direct and far-reaching impact on Cloud adoption and migration, technology modernization, and Agile/DevOps maturity. The role requires working across a broad spectrum of technology and business partners to deliver a portfolio of products for our customers. Responsibilities

Formulates conceptual architectures and communicates architectural vision, goals, and design objectives to multiple audiences

Consistently creates optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; considers scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs

Consults with IT management and technical staffs regarding the use of emerging technologies and services.

Recommends technical alternatives, providing clear alignment of the technology's strengths and weaknesses against the business objectives

Evaluates compliance with the organization's current and future tech standards and portfolios.

Drives the review of existing U.S. Bank and Impact Finance standards and procedures with the standards owner

Provides input and suggestions to improve the usability of the standard and to drive the standard forward

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Minimum 15 years of experience with developing and implementing applications and end to end solutions

At least 7 years of experience with the concepts, philosophies, and tools behind the design of applications, solution architecture, and underlying information technologies.

Preferred Skills/Experience

Solution Architecture role (7+ years) coming from an Application/Solution/Technology Architect background, leading and/or executing IT architecture, including software, infrastructure, data, integration, and cloud architecture.

Very strong Interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving & analytical skills.

Proven technical leader, adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.

Ability to collaborate on all aspects of product development and solution architecture.

App Stack (required) - Java/Spring, REST, Microservice, React.

Experienced in Spring Framework – Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring Security, Spring Batch.

Design and development for cloud apps (Required) - Docker/Kubernetes, On-Prem, Azure and/or AWS.

Proven knowledge in designing Restful APIs and configuring endpoints on API Gateway.

Hands on experience one or more frontend frameworks: Angular/ReactJS or are a quick learner.

Delivery Experience with proven track record on CI/CD (Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins), Test Automation.

Strong experience in API Management and Event Driven Architecture.

Design of an application’s code base, layering, componentization, framework selection a plus.

Database experience (Required) - Microsoft SQL Server (must have), Cassandra (nice to have), large/complex datasets, data modelling, performance, platform evolution, data delivery

Messaging Middleware – Kafka (preferable), Message Queues

End to end System Solutioning - Security, Performance, Availability, Scalability.

Financial Services domain knowledge (especially in Asset Management and Trust Servicing) is highly desirable.
