Linux Systems AdministratorThe Pentagon, Washington, DC – (On-Site)Salary negotiable (Depending on experience) - Full Time with BenefitsStrategic Data Systems (SDS) is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator (SA) that specializes in working within classified environments supporting agencies with a solid background in the Linux operating systems to help build and deploy technical platforms in high-performance computing environments for the Department of Defense.Job duties include:Provide administrative support for the maintenance and documentation of the networkReview and update the Standard Operating Procedures as requiredUpdate network configuration changes and equipment inventory as changes occurProvide weekly and monthly system status and trouble ticket reportsManage the networks in coordination with JS/J6 and Joint Service Provider (JSP)Review changes to JSP's network, assess the impact, and provide recommendations for government approval of any changes necessary to keep the hardware, software and operation aligned to the J6/JSP enterprise-level environmentTest and validate patches and new software in the lab/testbedAttend Configuration Control Boards and Engineering Review Boards with customer for update and release approvalsEnsure compliance with DoD, DISA, USCYBERCOM and Joint Staff guidanceProvide helpdesk support and IT support to include troubleshooting, assistance, and adviceMaintain and track the inventory of all hardware and software using in-house inventory systemAssist with new hardware and software acquisitions, including research and quote generationOptimize system operation and resource utilization; perform system capacity analysis and planningInstall new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software related problemsPerform system backups and recoveryMaintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrityTo qualify, you will need:DOD Top Secret Security Clearance with SCIBachelors' degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study in computer science, information systems, or related plus three (3) years of task related experienceOR Associates' degree from a college or university with a curriculum or major field of study in computer science, information systems, or related plus six (6) years task related experienceOR Applicable training certificate issued in accordance with guidelines provided by the software vendor (i.e. RHCE, RHCSA) from an accredited training institution plus ten (10) years of task related experienceActive CompTIA Security+CE Certification or equivalent IAT Level II CertificationMust have one of the following certifications:Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)Linux Professional Institute (LPL) level 1 (Exam 101) certification.Strategic Data Systems provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation, and training.
