Senior Application Developer

Description

Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI), a two-time USA Today Top Workplaces awardee and Washington Top Workplaces honoree, is seeking a is seeking a hands-on Senior Application Developer to join our growing team supporting our client in Suitland, MD. As a key member of the team, the application Developer will interface with the customers and developers supporting a range of software development activities including requirements collection and analysis, technical architecture design, detailed software design, implementation, test and integration for new and existing systems. Strong development experience using Java-centric Software technologies in AWS is a critical qualification for this position.

Primary Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and integrate custom JAVA backend applications and solutions

Design and develop Microservice applications in a cloud environment

Interface with senior-level customer management and SMEs

Resolve complex design, implementation, and/or performance issues

Work with the Information Security Organization to ensure that developed solutions meet all security requirements

Support all development and delivery activities, from requirements definition and specification to deployment and delivery to production.

Consult with project teams and end users to identify new requirements; identify areas for improvement.

Assist in the identification and evaluation of new/emerging technologies, COTS products, development, and testing tools.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

10+ years of recent software development experience

Hands-on Java development experience, including three years of Java Open-Source frameworks and technologies.

Experience in developing innovative Java-centric, scalable, secure enterprise custom applications

Experience developing microservice applications and APIs

Experience with Java EE and Java Frameworks (Spring Framework, Hibernate…)

Experience with web applications, SOA, web services (SOAP or RESTful) development, and deployment

Experience with REACT

Experience with AWS services and technologies

Experience with large-scale relational database design and development using PostgreSQL

Experience in applying Agile/Scrum methodology

Experience leading or contributing to multiple concurrent software development projects

Strong interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with development teams and customers

Desired Skills & Qualifications

Experience with Oracle Spatial

Experience with Python

Experience with PL/SQL

Java certifications: Certified Professional Java EE Web Component Developer, Certified Professional Java EE Developer, Application Developer, Certified Master Java SE Developer.

To meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be a US citizen

All candidates will be subject to a complete background check, including, but not limited to, Criminal History, Education Verification, Professional Certification Verification, Verification of Previous Employment, and Credit History.

Public Trust background investigations can take approximately four to eight weeks and require fingerprinting.

Other Information

Clearance: Must be a US citizen, and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Background checks may include Criminal History, Education Verification, Employment Verification, Professional Certifications, and Credit History. (Public Trust investigations typically take 4–8 weeks and require fingerprinting.)

Work Environment: Hybrid, with occasional on-site support as needed.

Salary Range: $120,000 – $175,000 annually
