SALES MANAGER

Job Description

Sales Manager

The Sales Manager oversees the Sales Department, providing leadership, strategic direction, and operational management for Inside/Outside Sales Representatives and Sales Support Associates. This role ensures that the sales team achieves revenue targets, maintains excellent customer relationships, and delivers exceptional service to contractors, homeowners, and vendors.

Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team, fostering a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative culture.

Oversee day-to-day sales activities and team results, ensuring sales targets, quotas, and KPIs are consistently met.

Collaborate with Outside Sales Representatives to develop strategies for generating new business and maintaining client relationships.

Support Sales Support Associates in managing order processing, estimates, scheduling, and vendor communications to ensure seamless customer service.

Review sales activity reports, forecasts, and operational data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth.

Set territory assignments, sales quotas, and performance expectations for the sales team.

Conduct regular coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations, providing timely feedback and recognition.

Partner with purchasing, dispatch, and yard operations to ensure timely delivery, order accuracy, and resolution of customer issues.

Monitor and maintain customer satisfaction, resolving escalated complaints and operational issues.

Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with company goals, including prospecting, presentations, and promotional efforts.

Recruit, onboard, and train new sales team members to maintain a skilled, knowledgeable workforce.

Participate in key customer meetings, site visits, and trade events as a company representative.

Collaborate with executive leadership on sales forecasting, budget planning, and margin improvement initiatives.

Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the sales department.

Directly supervise Inside/Outside Sales Representatives and Sales Support Associates.

Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions within the sales team.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to motivate and develop a sales team.

Excellent strategic thinking and organizational skills.

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/sales software (e.g., Salesforce).

Ability to analyze data, forecast sales, and identify market opportunities.

Strong customer service and negotiation skills.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Minimum 5 years of sales experience, preferably in building materials or a related industry.

Minimum 3 years of sales management experience leading a team of sales professionals.

Ability to travel regularly to customer sites, job locations, and other company facilities.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

$120,000 - $155,000 Base Salary + Commission, DOE
