Job Summary The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing evidence-based physical therapy interventions for infants, children, and young adults within Totally Kids (Acute, Subacute, Outpatient & Circlebrook).
The Physical Therapist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team—including physicians, nurses, occupational and speech therapists, respiratory therapists, and case managers—to maximize each patient’s physical function, mobility, and overall quality of life. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse pediatric population, including those with complex medical conditions, neuromuscular disorders, post-surgical needs, traumatic injuries, and developmental delays.
It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the organization strategic plan, the goals and direction of the quality assurance performance improvement process, and activities.
QualificationsRequirements Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
Current California Physical Therapist (PT) license
Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association)
Preferred Minimum of one (1) year of experience in pediatric physical therapy within an hospital or rehabilitation
Knowledge of ventilator-dependent, medically fragile, and technology-assisted pediatric populations
Experience with adaptive equipment, gait training, and mobility devices
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) documentation
Knowledge/Skill Strong clinical skills in pediatric rehabilitation, developmental milestones, and neurodevelopmental treatment
Knowledge of CMS conditions of participation, CDPH state regulations, CCS, and TJC (hospital, nursing care center, and laboratory) accreditation requirements as applicable to job
Working knowledge of computer and software applications as applicable to job
Possess strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
Works responsibly in a team environment as well as independently
Manages confidential information effectively and appropriately
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY Clinical Conduct comprehensive physical therapy assessments, including range of motion, strength, tone, postural control, balance, mobility, and endurance.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote functional mobility, independence, and participation in daily activities.
Collaborate with physicians and other rehabilitation professionals to coordinate holistic care and ensure achievement of patient-centered goals.
Provide education, instruction, and support to families, caregivers, and outpatient participants to promote carryover and maximize outcomes.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with Totally Kids and regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission).
Recommend, fit, and train patients in the use of adaptive equipment, mobility aids, orthotics, and positioning devices.
Support safe and seamless transitions between levels of care (acute, subacute, outpatient) through communication and discharge planning.
Participate in ongoing quality improvement, safety initiatives, and continuing education to maintain best practice standards.
