Construction Manager

Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Construction & Site Execution

Lead day-to-day construction activities at the project site. Plan, coordinate and supervise construction works from mobilization to completion. Ensure construction activities are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project schedule. Monitor manpower, equipment, productivity and site resources. Identify construction issues and implement timely corrective actions. 2. Solar PV Construction

Supervise construction and installation of utility-scale Solar PV plants. Coordinate civil works including site grading, roads, drainage, foundations, piling and other infrastructure. Oversee installation of mounting structures, trackers and PV modules. Coordinate DC/AC cabling, inverter, transformer and MV/HV electrical works. Coordinate substation, switchyard, transmission line/OHTL and electrical BoP activities, where applicable. Coordinate pre-commissioning, testing and commissioning activities. 3. Contractor & Subcontractor Management

Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors and site vendors. Allocate work fronts and monitor contractor performance and productivity. Review manpower and equipment deployment against project requirements. Ensure contractors comply with project specifications, quality standards and HSE requirements. Resolve site-level issues and elevate critical matters to the Project Manager. 4. Planning & Schedule Management

Prepare and monitor detailed construction programmes and look-ahead schedules. Track daily, weekly and monthly progress against planned targets. Identify delays, bottlenecks and critical activities. Develop recovery plans to achieve project milestones. Coordinate with the planning team for progress measurement and reporting. 5. Engineering Coordination

Coordinate with engineering teams for drawings, technical specifications and site requirements. Review construction drawings, method statements and technical submissions. Coordinate closure of RFIs and technical issues. Ensure design changes and approved revisions are properly implemented at site. 6. Quality Management

Ensure construction works comply with approved quality plans and project specifications. Coordinate inspections, testing and ITP requirements. Monitor and close NCRs, observations and punch points. Ensure proper documentation of inspections, approvals and completed works. 7. HSE Management

Ensure strict compliance with project HSE requirements and statutory regulations. Promote a strong safety culture across the construction site. Conduct regular site inspections and safety reviews. Ensure proper implementation of risk assessments, method statements and Permit-to-Work requirements. Take immediate corrective action for unsafe practices. 8. Material & Resource Management

Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for timely availability of materials and equipment. Monitor material consumption and availability at site. Ensure proper storage and handling of project materials. Plan manpower, machinery and other resources according to construction requirements. 9. Client & Consultant Coordination

Coordinate with clients, consultants, project management teams and other stakeholders. Support site inspections, approvals and technical discussions. Provide regular construction progress updates. Ensure timely resolution of client/consultant comments and observations. 10. Commissioning & Handover

Coordinate mechanical completion and construction punch-list closure. Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. Ensure completion documentation, as-built drawings and quality records are maintained. Support final project handover to the client/O&M team. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Construction completion as per approved schedule Achievement of construction milestones Site productivity and manpower efficiency HSE performance Quality compliance and NCR closure Contractor/subcontractor performance Timely material and resource availability Punch-list closure Mechanical completion and commissioning readiness Successful project handover Education

Bachelors degree in

Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management PMP / PRINCE2 certification will be an advantage NEBOSH / IOSH or other HSE certification will be an advantage Experience

10–15+ years of overall experience

in construction/project execution Minimum

5+ years of experience in Construction Manager / Construction Lead / Site Manager roles Strong experience in

Solar PV / Renewable Energy EPC projects Experience in

utility-scale Solar PV construction

preferred Strong experience managing contractors, subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams Experience in civil and electrical BoP works Experience in testing, commissioning and project handover International / Middle East / Africa project experience will be an advantage Technical Skills
