Job Description

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed inspections of ongoing construction activities, focusing on heavy earthwork operations such as excavation, grading, and soil compaction.

Verify that all construction work meets approved plans, specifications, and engineering standards.

Monitor the implementation of construction drawings.

Identify and document any deviations or non‑conformance issues and recommend corrective actions.

Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and standards on the construction site.

Conduct regular safety audits.

Assist in tracking project timelines and milestones.

Prepare progress reports.

Provide technical guidance and support to construction crews.

Work closely with the Resident Engineer, Chief Inspector, site superintendent, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate activities and resolve issues.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of transportation construction experience, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field (or equivalent work experience), and proven experience as a Civil Inspector/Engineer with a focus on heavy highway work.

Familiarity with local construction codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines, and strong knowledge of civil engineering principles related to earthworks construction and site development.

Attention to detail, a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues, the ability to work outdoors and handle the physical demands of a construction site, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 3 years of experience.

Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).

Proven problem‑solving and documentation abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Position requires successfully passing drug‑screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing.

Primary Location: United States – New York – Purchase. Other Locations: United States – New York – Albany; United States – New Jersey – Woodcliff Lake.

Schedule

Full‑time.
