Job Overview:
Experienced and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team in ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of bakery equipment and plant systems. This role is ideal for a proactive leader with strong technical knowledge and a passion for mentoring others, driving improvement projects, and maintaining a culture of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervise and coordinate the schedule and daily activities of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and leads.
Provide coaching, training, and support to develop individual and team capabilities.
Assign and monitor work orders, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
Facilitate effective communication between shifts and departments to maintain continuous operations.
Conduct performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and team meetings as needed.
Operations & Equipment Management Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance for all bakery production equipment and utilities, including HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Monitor and troubleshoot issues with mechanical, electrical, PLC, and control systems.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are aligned with safety, quality, and production goals.
Support continuous improvement efforts, equipment upgrades, and new installations.
Safety & Compliance Enforce adherence to all company and OSHA safety standards, GMPs, and PPE requirements.
Lead and participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Ensure tools, equipment, and the maintenance shop are safely maintained and organized.
CMMS & Inventory Control Oversee the effective use of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for scheduling, logging, and tracking maintenance tasks.
Manage spare parts inventory, ordering processes, and ensure accurate usage tracking.
Support data-driven decisions through accurate documentation and reporting of maintenance activities.
Project Coordination Plan, prioritize, and coordinate resources for projects and unplanned downtime responses.
Collaborate with production, sanitation, and quality teams to align maintenance with operational priorities.
Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that reduce downtime and increase reliability.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or bakery environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Working knowledge of CMMS systems, equipment schematics, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with food manufacturing safety standards (GMPs, OSHA).
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work varied shifts, weekends, or emergencies as needed.
Preferred Skills: Hands-on experience with bakery production equipment and utility systems.
Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and basic PLC troubleshooting.
