Network Administrator

Job Description

Network Administrator American Vanguard is a diversified agricultural and specialty products company focusing on crop protection, turf and ornamental markets, and public health applications. The Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance and support of the organization's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and telecommunications systems across multiple sites. Reporting directly to the Director of Infrastructure & Operations, this individual plays a key role in ensuring network performance, availability, and security across the enterprise. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience managing enterprise network environments and a strong commitment to uptime, documentation, and continuous improvement.

You will join in the process of upgrading and standardizing our IT functions to bring uniform and consistent global standards to all of our worldwide entities.

Job Responsibilities Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and SD-WAN across all organizational sites

Ensure network availability, performance, and reliability through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and timely troubleshooting of issues

Configure and manage network security controls including firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, and network segmentation in alignment with organizational security policies

Support WAN connectivity and telecommunications infrastructure, including carrier circuit management and service provider coordination

Assist in the design and implementation of network upgrades, expansions, and technology refresh initiatives as directed by the Director of Infrastructure & Operations

Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation including diagrams, configurations, IP address management (IPAM), and change logs

Respond to and resolve network-related incidents and service requests within defined SLAs; escalate complex issues as appropriate

Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to support network security initiatives, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements

Participate in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical network incidents and outages

Support disaster recovery and business continuity efforts related to network infrastructure, including DR testing and failover procedures

Experience and Education 3+ years of hands-on experience in network administration or a related infrastructure role within an enterprise environment

Experience managing multi-site WAN environments including carrier circuit management and telecom coordination

Experience with SD-WAN technologies and cloud networking concepts (Azure Virtual Network, ExpressRoute, or equivalent) preferred

Familiarity with ITIL-based change management and incident management processes

Preferred certifications: Cisco CCNA or CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent vendor certifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field desired

Associate's degree with equivalent work experience may be considered.

Skills and Qualifications Strong hands-on knowledge of enterprise networking technologies including routing, switching, VLANs, QoS, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS

Experience with SD-WAN platforms (e.g., Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, VeloCloud, or equivalent)

Proficiency with firewall administration (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or equivalent) and VPN configuration

Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Cisco DNA Center, or equivalent)

Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security principles

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently

Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across IT teams and with external vendors

Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate documentation and change management practices

Work Environment Professional office and data center environment; occasional work in server rooms or network rooms required

Multi-site environment with occasional travel to regional offices, data centers, or vendor locations

Participation in on-call rotation required to support after-hours network incidents and maintenance

Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and incidents simultaneously
