Required Skills & Experience

6+ years of experience working with public cloud platforms (AWS and GCP preferred) in a professional setting.\n\nDeep, hands-on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) + GitOps (Argo CD) or other orchestration platform (e.g., Hashicorp Nomad / Consul)\n\nDeep, hands-on experience using Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and scripting languages (Python) to deploy, maintain, and support cloud infrastructure.\n\nStrong experience supporting containerized applications and Linux-based systems Deep experience building and maintaining databases, including MongoDB and PostgreSQL\n\nStrong understanding of networking, IAM, cloud observability, and common cloud services such as AWS VPC, EC2, S3, SNS, SQS, and Lambda.\n\nExperience managing secrets and sensitive configuration using tools such as HashiCorp Vault. \n\nExperience designing, deploying, and operating fault-tolerant systems with on-call responsibilities. \n\nStrong working knowledge of Git and common branching and collaboration workflows. \n\nGrowth mindset and interest in continuous learning Strong collaboration and communication skills

Job Description

Role Overview\n\nWe are seeking a Senior Engineer for Cboe’s Cloud Operations team. The Cloud Operations team is responsible for building and operating Cboe’s cloud-based applications, including products supporting both clearing, exchange, and data solutions platforms. This role is focused on execution, automation, and supporting infrastructure solutions for cloud-native applications. Cloud Engineers are expected to participate in project delivery, contribute to team processes, and grow their technical depth through hands-on work and collaboration.\n\n\n\nThe ideal candidate should be knowledgeable in a breadth of infrastructure disciplines, including network design, system administration, storage management, security policy implementation, virtualization, and process automation. The candidate should be able to build secure cloud infrastructure, support application runtime environments, and collaborate with engineers at all levels. The candidate should also be proactive, able to troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain automation scripts/tools.\n\n\n\nYour responsibilities will be:\n\nBuild and maintain a globally distributed cloud infrastructure platform using Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, among others).\n\nCollaborate with Cloud Platform Engineering and Business Unit applications team to engineer infrastructure solutions to support their cloud-based applications\n\nDesign, deploy, and operate Kubernetes-based platforms and workloads (EKS/GKE), including GitOps workflows (e.g., Argo CD). \n\nPerform system and database maintenance activities, including application deployment, backup and restoration procedures, patching, upgrades, etc. \n\nSupport and enhance CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.\n\nMaintain and support cloud environments, including incident response, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.\n\nDocument infrastructure designs, standard operating procedures, and support runbooks.\n\nCreate and maintain clear, accurate documentation tailored to the target audience (e.g., engineers, support staff).\n\nCollaborate with development, security, and operations teams to ensure systems are secure and compliant.\n\nParticipate in on-call rotations and support operational readiness.\n\nParticipate in retrospectives to identify opportunities to improve platform scalability and supportability.\n\n\n\nExpectations for Project and Initiative Work\n\nContribute to implementation efforts for cloud infrastructure projects.\n\nTake ownership of discrete technical tasks and follow through to completion.\n\nScope and track work progress using tools like Jira.\n\nCommunicate status, blockers, and risks clearly to project leads.\n\nParticipate in design discussions and reviews with guidance from senior team members.\n\nFollow defined patterns and standards to ensure consistency and maintainability.
