Pay: $19.50/hour

Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Security Manager on duty, perform security patrols of the perimeter of the Arena including plazas, parking lots and parking garage on foot; provide basic security coverage ensuring that adequate protection is provided for the safety and assets of guests, employees, and the company; serve as a reassurance to parking users that their safety is a priority for management; project a positive image to Arena guests and employees and exhibit an outgoing, friendly, customer-focused personality at all times.

This role has union representation by MASH

Responsibilities: Patrol parking areas on foot to prevent vehicle damage or property theft; routinely patrol and survey the parking structure, the plaza areas and special parking zones that surround the Arena before, during and after special events; assess for problems and safety conditions; provide visible deterrent to criminal or other unwanted activity.

Use hand signals and/or flashlights to advise incoming customers to authorized parking areas; facilitate the flow of traffic into and out of parking areas; control traffic at entrances and exits as needed.

Lift, position and remove barricades to open or close parking areas and prevent parking in unauthorized areas; assist in set up and relocation of portable fencing, traffic cones and portable signs in different locations around Arena property to create efficient entry and exit points.

Monitor and spot check vehicles parked in facility garage and parking zones to ensure that all parking regulations and safety concerns are met and maintained.

Use two-way radio to communicate effectively with Arena Operation Operator, Valet staff, and other Guest Services staff to ensure that guests' needs are met.

Maintain a positive customer service attitude; greet and be interactive with guests and employees; provide information and customer service assistance.

Assist guests in locating their vehicles; provide guests and employees the option to use an escort to and from a parking area

Maintain a high level of situational awareness and be attentive to surroundings to provide the best security possible.

Use radio communication to report any emergencies or service required.

Inspect garage regularly for safety, cleanliness, and maintenance; clean up trash and other debris around open lot and parking garage as needed; report any concerns to Lead AOO.

Coordinate with Supervisor on any situation involving exception to policies or procedures.

Assist with surveillance and/or investigations as required and assigned.

Attend pre-event and other staff meetings and training sessions; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification: High school diploma or equivalent

Prior experience in a customer care environment is a plus!

6-12 months of experience working security in a parking lot or garage

Excellent customer service, active listening, team building, teamwork, and observational skills.

Previous experience operating a two-way radio, flashlights, and advising/controlling traffic

Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, policies, and procedures

Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language

Demonstrate a sense of urgency and timeliness

Ability to handle emergency situations calmly

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Willing and able to work efficiently in all forms of weather (wind, heat, cold, rain, snow)

Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance always

Be able to work a flexible schedule on 2nd and 3rd shift including nights, weekends, and holidays

Can resolve and unforeseen job-related issues without assistance
