Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager Baltimore, MD

CFS is partnering with a well respected non profit organization in Baltimore City to hire an Accounting Manager to join their small finance team. This is a strong opportunity for an Accounting Manager who enjoys hands-on fund accounting, and working closely with leadership in a structured, mission-driven environment.

The Accounting Manager will serve as a lead accounting resource, bringing strong hands-on experience with financial statement preparation, consolidations, and grant accounting, while supporting broader finance team priorities as needed.

Opportunity for an Accounting Manager to own complex accounting and grant activities

Prepare and post general ledger entries, reconcile accounts, and lead month-end and year-end close processes, including consolidation of financials across multiple entities

Produce and review accurate financial statements, reports, and budgets. Consolidate and interpret financial data received from third-party accounting team

Manage and track grant funding, ensuring strict compliance with donor restrictions; lead cost allocations and prepare detailed, funder-specific financial reports

Oversee accounts payable (invoice processing, vendor payments, expense tracking) and accounts receivable, ensuring strong cash flow management

Lead audit support efforts, coordinate external audits, and ensure compliance with nonprofit tax requirements, including IRS Form 990 and applicable federal/state regulations

Support payroll processing and ongoing cash flow management activities

Apply advanced accounting knowledge, including experience with bond draws and complex funding structures

Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

5+ years accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit setting

Consolidated financial statement experience required

Experience using NetSuite a plus but not required

Strong Microsoft Excel skills

Ability to work independently

High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Location: 100% on site in Baltimore, MD. M-F, 7am-9am flexible start time

Salary: $90,000-115,000
