Veterinary Extern - General Practice

About the Externship West Milwaukee Veterinary Care offers up to a $2,000 travel stipend for all clinical year externs. An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. This hospital provides a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners. Responsibilities Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories, perform physical exams, create treatment plans, and complete diagnostics. Assist in dentistry services, observe or assist surgical procedures, and manage medication for patients. Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Participate in an externship lasting two to eight weeks, depending on schedule. Stipend Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend, with a maximum of $2,000. For details, refer to the NVA stipend program.
