Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Maintenance TechnicianThe Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs production equipment to minimize downtime and ensure safe, reliable operation in a manufacturing environment. This role troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, performs preventative and scheduled maintenance, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The technician works independently in a fast-paced setting, responds quickly to equipment issues, and contributes to the overall efficiency and safety of the facility.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and repair production equipment during unplanned downtime to restore safe and efficient operation as quickly as possible.Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on manufacturing machinery to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems used in production and facility equipment.Troubleshoot and maintain 480V electrical systems, motors, motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and automated production equipment.Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical documentation, and equipment manuals to support accurate diagnostics and repairs.Support facility maintenance needs as required, including general repairs and upkeep of building systems and infrastructure.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing and 5S programs, to enhance safety, efficiency, and organization.Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation, including work orders, parts usage, and equipment history in maintenance systems.Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and special projects, ensuring proper setup, testing, and handoff to production.Use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively while following established safety procedures.Respond quickly to equipment issues in a production setting and prioritize tasks to minimize impact on operations.Work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple maintenance priorities.Essential Skills1+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in an industrial setting.Hands-on experience working with 480V electrical systems, motor controls, VFDs, and related equipment.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment issues.Comfortable troubleshooting electrical systems up to 480V in a production environment.Experience working with motors, VFDs, sensors, and automated equipment.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a sense of urgency during equipment downtime.Basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance systems for documentation and recordkeeping.Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces throughout the shift.Ability to frequently lift, carry, and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.Comfort working around moving machinery and production equipment in a manufacturing environment.Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.Capability to perform repetitive physical tasks and remain active for extended periods.Ability to work at varying heights and in environments with noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and other manufacturing conditions.Ability to respond quickly to equipment issues and safely perform repairs in a production setting.Additional Skills & Qualifications2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.Experience as a maintenance technician, maintenance mechanic, industrial mechanic, or industrial maintenance professional.Maintenance certification, vocational training, or related technical education is preferred.Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and 5S programs.Familiarity with automated equipment and control systems used in production environments.Strong communication skills to effectively interact with production staff and maintenance team members.Detail-oriented approach to documenting maintenance activities and equipment history.Why Work Here?This opportunity offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports long-term stability and work-life balance, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, and paid holidays with floating holidays. The position works on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with initial training on 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) for approximately three months. The work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs. The technician regularly uses hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment and works around 480V electrical systems, motors, controls, and automated production equipment while following established safety procedures.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Napa, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
