Lead DevSecOps Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Lead DevSecOps Engineer to support a government customer located in Gaithersburg, MD . This is a hybrid opportunity requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote for candidates within commuting distance of Gaithersburg. The Lead DevSecOps Engineer will support mission-critical cloud and platform engineering initiatives that impact millions of air travelers.

Lead DevSecOps Engineer Responsibilities:

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions to support continuous integration, testing, and delivery.

Manage Kubernetes clusters, Docker containerized workloads, and Terraform-based infrastructure within AWS environments.

Integrate security tooling and DevSecOps practices, including vulnerability scanning, software supply chain security, SBOM generation, and artifact management.

Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and operational processes using Bash and Python scripting.

Collaborate with development teams to improve platform reliability, deployment velocity, developer experience, and operational excellence.

Lead DevSecOps Engineer Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline with 4+ years of experience; Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience; or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.

Security+ CE, CySA+, or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification .

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and successfully complete all required government background investigations.

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.

Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Linux administration, and automation using Bash and Python.

Experience implementing DevSecOps practices, security scanning tools, software supply chain security (Sigstore, SLSA, SBOM generation), artifact management systems, and build provenance tracking.

Understanding of networking, load balancing, service mesh concepts, Agile/SAFe methodologies, and developer platform initiatives.

Lead DevSecOps Engineer Compensation:

$140,000 - $155,000 (depending on experience)
