Job Description

Data ModelerContract Length: 6+ months Location: Dallas, Texas (hybrid – 3 days onsite) ****LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY**** We are seeking a skilled Data Modeler to join our client's Data Architecture team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data models that support business operations, analytics, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate has expertise with erwin Data Modeler, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server, along with experience developing scalable, high-quality data solutions. Working closely with data architects, DBAs, ETL developers, and business stakeholders, the Data Modeler translates complex business requirements into well-structured data models that align with enterprise data governance, performance, and integration standards. The successful candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a proactive mindset and a passion for solving complex data challenges. This fast-paced, highly collaborative team values innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement, offering the opportunity to work on challenging enterprise initiatives alongside experienced data professionals.Qualifications4+ years of hands-on data modeling experience in enterprise environmentsAdvanced proficiency with erwin Data Modeler (version 9.x or higher preferred), including subject areas, model templates, and DDL generationStrong experience with Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c/21c) and Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or newer)Advanced SQL skills with extensive knowledge of DDL, including creating and modifying tables, indexes, constraints, sequences, synonyms, and materialized viewsStrong understanding of database internals, including indexing strategies, partitioning, clustering, and query execution plansExperience with data modeling best practices, including normalization, denormalization, surrogate keys, slowly changing dimensions (SCD), and Data Vault (preferred)Experience using version control tools such as Git and model comparison/diff toolsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesSelf-motivated with strong organizational and multitasking abilitiesCollaborative team player with a proactive, solution-oriented mindsetExperience with Hadoop and/or MongoDB is a plusExperience supporting large-scale enterprise data environments is preferredResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using erwin Data ModelerCreate, review, and optimize DDL scripts for database objects including tables, views, indexes, constraints, partitions, and other database structuresPerform forward and reverse engineering of Oracle and SQL Server databases.Collaborate with data architects, database administrators, ETL developers, and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and refine business requirementsDevelop data models that adhere to normalization standards (3NF/BCNF) while maintaining data quality, integrity, and referential integritySupport dimensional modeling initiatives, including star and snowflake schemas for data warehousing and analyticsConduct data model reviews, impact analysis, and version control using erwin or comparable modeling toolsParticipate in data governance initiatives, including metadata management, data lineage, and naming standardsOptimize data models for performance, scalability, and maintainability across enterprise environmentsSupport database migrations, schema comparisons, and synchronization across Development, QA, and Production environmentsAssist with optimizing existing enterprise data solutionsFollow established Data Governance and Information Classification & Protection policiesParticipate in architecture and design reviews while collaborating closely with the Data Architecture teamGenius Road, LLC is proud to be a Certified Women's Business Enterprise, an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity.
