Robotics Software EngineerOceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. We also use applied technology expertise to serve the defense, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries.Job DescriptionThe Robotics Software Engineer will be a key member of the New Products Development core team and play a critical role in the success of prototyping and testing new product and service offerings for our commercial business units in subsea robotics, material handling automation, and in people mover applications, among others.LocationRole will be office based with flexibility to work virtually.Ability to travel up to 10%ResponsibilitiesFunctionsEssentialDesign, develop, implement, and test software on a variety of assignments across multiple projects.Work across the robotics stack to solve challenging problems in land and sea-based robotics.Test algorithms that run on our robots, both internal to the software system and client facing.Create and execute software test plans to deliver quality softwareCreate prototypes and proof of concepts for new featuresSupport testing of prototype and document resultsWork with system and product teams to ensure quality software deliveryInteract with customer representatives to define and manage customer expectations.AdditionalOther duties as assignedSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Reporting RelationshipManager – Software ManagerMay take direction from Project ManagersQualificationsQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Software Engineering or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum 1 year experience with integrating multiple software modulesMinimum 1 Year experience working with C++ or Python in academic or professional environmentMinimum 1 year of experience working with electrical and electronic circuits in academic or professional environment.Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.DesiredPreferred to have experience working with hardware (Motors, controllers, industrial manipulators, sensors etc.).Preferred to have experience using GitHub, Agile, SCRUM or other formal processesExperience working with complex software and systemExperience working with image processing and AIExperience in system state machine development and software configurationKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other CharacteristicsAn individual should demonstrate following competencies & qualities to be able to perform this role successfully:Excellent communication and organizational skills.Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goalsAnalytical, problem solving & decision-making skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and manage deadlinesAbility to effectively manage time to meet operational needs and desired outcomes.Ability to approach new technologies and open-ended problemsAbility to travel up to 10%Working ConditionsThis position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.Mostly indoors during the day and occasionally at nightOccasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplaceWork surface is stable (flat)Physical Activity/RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
