Linux Systems Admin (IE1)

Job Description

Linux Systems AdministratorJovian Concepts, LLC is looking to hire a Linux Systems Administrator for an Infrastructure Engineer Level 1 position in the Annapolis Junction area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process. Configures and manages LINUX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.Key responsibilities may include:Implement, maintain, and enhance complex research infrastructure and its security posture across classified/unclassified spacesPerform Linux and Windows system administration for workstations and serversSupport and administer virtualization platforms, compute/storage, and remote access solutionsConfigure and troubleshoot networking and TCP/IP (switching/routing basics, port activation, patching/cabling)Build, maintain, and update gold images for Linux and Windows systems; apply baseline configurations and hardening best practicesExecute routine patching and system/tool updates, and assist with audit/readiness tasksSupport security administration activities such as endpoint protection, malware detection, intrusion detection, and logging/auditing solutionsPhysically set up, cable, label, and power systems; implement required physical controls in secure spacesExecute approved procedures for sanitizing and releasing system components/mediaMaintain working knowledge of security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security measuresRequirements:A current and active TS/SCI Clearance with a Polygraph from the MD Customer is required. No CCA's will be accepted at this time.Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 3+ years of experience and a Bachelors, 1+ years and a Masters, or a PhD in Computer Science or related discipline. 4 additional years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree, for a total of 7 years of experienceDemonstrated experience conducting Linux system administration in operational environments.Demonstrated work delivery experience supporting IT and telecommunicationsExperience installing/configuring IT/network hardware and softwareStrong communication/ and collaboration skills supporting integrated teams (customer, subcontractors)Ability to document configurations and procedures clearlyPreferred Qualifications:Advanced troubleshooting experience with complex network issues such as IPSec, VXLAN, firewalls, load balancing, and DNSExperience with VDI and thin client architectures and operationsExperience administering security tooling such as enterprise antivirus/EDR, malware detection, IDS, and audit/logging solutionsFamiliarity with open-source security/network tools (e.g., Snort)Experience with cloud and data platforms such as OpenStack, Hadoop, and/or ClouderaWorking knowledge of AWS platforms/services and common deployment patternsFamiliarity with modern network operations and capability delivery processesIn a recent employee survey, Jovian Concepts earned a 92% Overall Workplace Experience Score and 100% of employees agreed that they would highly recommend working at Jovian Concepts to others.
