Software Engineer

Job Summary Seeking a Senior IBM z/TPF Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-volume transaction-processing applications using HLASM/Assembler. The role focuses on application development, production debugging, root-cause analysis, system internals, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and support IBM z/TPF applications using HLASM/Assembler.

Troubleshoot production issues using z/TPF Toolkit, debuggers, dump analysis, and diagnostic tools.

Analyze ECB processing, registers, storage, work areas, control blocks, flags, and transaction flows.

Support TPFDF records, ordinals, chain records, and database access logic.

Perform root-cause analysis and implement production-safe fixes.

Trace complex assembler code and macro-generated processing flows.

Conduct code reviews, mentor developers, and collaborate with architects and business teams.

Prepare technical documentation and support testing, deployments, and post-release validation.

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

8+ years of IBM z/TPF and HLASM/Assembler experience.

Strong knowledge of z/TPF architecture, ECB processing, storage management, and transaction processing.

Experience with production debugging, dump analysis, and diagnostic utilities.

Experience with high-volume transaction systems such as airline, transportation, reservation, ticketing, inventory, or logistics.

Familiarity with Git, Jira, and Agile/Scrum.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with TPFDF and file/record structures.

C and C/Assembler integration experience.

Familiarity with z/OS, TSO/ISPF, and JCL.

Experience modernizing and optimizing legacy assembler applications.
