Chemical Process Engineer

Job Title: Chemical Process Engineer

FLSA Status: Exempt

Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to improve efficiency, safety, and product quality.

Conduct process simulations, heat and material balance calculations, and scale-up activities from lab/pilot to production.

Prepare and review P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and other technical documentation.

Monitor and analyze process performance, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, yield improvement, and waste minimization.

Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.

Collaborate with R&D, operations, and project teams to implement new technologies and process improvements.

Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with industry best practices.

Provide training and mentorship to plant personnel on process engineering fundamentals and safe work practices.

Support capital projects by defining process requirements, evaluating vendor proposals, and overseeing commissioning/start-up activities.

Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards.

Track and report process KPIs, recommending strategies for continuous improvement.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field

Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in process or production engineering

Travel: Approximately 10%

Other: Must complete pre-employment background, medical, and drug screening; valid driver’s license required
