Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)The Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) position plays a critical role in providing exceptional care to patients in a fast-paced environment. This unit focuses on a variety of patient diagnoses and requires a strong team-oriented approach along with effective communication skills.Unit Details:Unit Type: StepdownNumber of Beds: 22Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:04Common Diagnoses: Heart failure, Atrial fibrillation (Afib), respiratory distress, strokePatient Care Technicians: 1:10 ratioShift Information:Shift Length: 12 hoursShift Requirements: Every other weekend, 1 major holiday and 1 minor holiday per yearSelf-Scheduling: Cyclic schedulingResponsibilities:Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, patient education, and monitoring of vital signsAssess and document patients' conditions, ensuring timely and appropriate interventionsTitrate intravenous drips as per protocol with knowledge of medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerinRead and interpret telemetry stripsCollaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient careQualifications:Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a related nursing roleRequired Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Success Attributes:The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, exceptional teamwork skills, and a strong commitment to patient-oriented care. Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges is essential.Additional Information:New hires will complete a brief orientation, including a pass/fail exam based on skills learned, requiring a minimum 90% score to ensure competency.Floating to the ICU is required if the nurse has appropriate experience.
