Business Systems Analyst

Job Description

Business Systems Analyst Under general supervision of the Payroll Coordination and Analysis Manager, the Business Systems Analyst will support UCPath related campus financial tools and systems. From systems that provide data as input to the UCPath system, to other systems that provide integration with campus financial system, and everything in between. The business systems analyst will be responsible for conducting systems analysis, fit gap analysis, data analysis, process design and/or redesign, creation of business and functional requirement documents, develop training materials and deliver training, and manage projects as needed. Support UCPath initiatives of assigned functional responsibilities. Participate in UCPath project initiatives as assigned. The effort assigned to the job responsibilities may shift in response to changing goals and objectives and the demands of the project or needs in other projects.

Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. - Required

Advanced degree in related field. - Preferred

Experience Requirements 4 - 7 years of related experience. - Required

Business Analyst, Time and Attendance implementation experience in a higher education environment. - Preferred

Experience with shared service center practices and technologies. - Preferred

Special Conditions Must pass a background check. - Required

Hired candidate must successfully pass a background check prior to start date. - Required

Exercise the utmost discretion in managing sensitive information learned in the course of performing their duties. Sensitive information includes but is not limited to employee and student records, health and patient records, financial data, strategic plans, proprietary information, and any other sensitive or non-public information learned during the course and scope of employment. Understands that sensitive information should be shared on a limited basis and actively takes steps to limit access to sensitive information to individuals who have legitimate business need to know. Ensure that sensitive information is properly safeguarded. Follow all organizational policies and laws on data protection and privacy. This includes secure handling of physical and digital records and proper usage of IT systems to prevent data leaks. The unauthorized or improper disclosure of confidential work-related information obtained from any source on any work-related matter is a violation of these expectations.

Minimum Requirements Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.

Thorough knowledge of related areas of IT.

Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.

In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.

Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills.

Broad knowledge relating to software design.

Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures.

Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

Thorough knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project. Knowledge and proficiency in SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of system implementation.
