Technical Design Associate

Position Summary Supports the Product Development Team

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work alongside our Design team to develop the fit and specification for the prototype samples, formulate corrections and provide solutions as appropriate

Review prototypes vs. tech packs for key measurements and constructions

Responsible for fit and construction integrity

Establish specifications and construction requirements for each garment type as per standards

Write clear and accurate comments to relay to vendors so they understand the direction

Understanding of fit stages and how to effect seasonal deliveries/deadlines successfully

Collaborate with Design and corresponding teams to determine fit and priorities to meet timelines

Review and revise spec sheets to confirm their accuracy

Organize workflow based on delivery and production time and action calendar

Communicate fit revisions and comments to vendors in a technical package format

Approve fit and construction for each fit sample

Communicate with the production team by transitioning off styles/collections information

Enforce the company’s quality standards and expectations when dealing with factories, while at the same time maintaining a professional demeanor.

Be able to work autonomously and be a team player

Minimum qualifications 3-5 + years of related professional experience

Intermediate Computer Drawing skills for technical and construction detail sketches & related art using Adobe Illustrator

Must have strong organizational skills and be able to manage multiple different projects at once

Knowledge of garment and fabric construction, terminology, measurements, and workmanship

Ability to accurately measure a garment

Strong written and verbal communication

Must have reliable transportation, valid CA driver’s license, and proof of insurance

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work independently

Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets

Able to manage multiple prioritize and meet deadlines

Spanish speaking is a plus

Working Environment / Conditions Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Position requires driving throughout the day to various factories around LA

Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor under pressure

Ability to react and adapt to change

Physical Requirements Sit, stand, lift up to 50lbs

Location Requirement Applicants must be local to Santa Barbara or Downtown Los Angeles area.
