Electrical Estimator PositionLocation: Staten Island, NY Industry: Electrical Construction – Commercial Interior Fit-OutFreedom Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its Staten Island team. This is a key estimating position focused primarily on commercial interior fit-out projects throughout Staten Island, Brooklyn, and select areas of New Jersey.The ideal candidate will have approximately 10+ years of electrical construction/estimating experience and a strong understanding of Local 3 labor and commercial interior work. Prior Local 3 field experience is highly valued, particularly for candidates who transitioned from the field into estimating.This does not need to be a Chief Estimator. Freedom Electric is looking for a strong, hands-on estimator who understands how electrical work is actually built, can accurately price projects, and can manage a steady volume of bids.ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed electrical estimates for commercial interior fit-out projects up to approximately $5MReview drawings, specifications, bid documents, addenda and project requirementsPerform detailed takeoffs for electrical materials, equipment and laborAccurately incorporate Local 3 labor requirements, productivity and costsSolicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricingIdentify scope gaps, exclusions, risks and value-engineering opportunitiesPrepare approximately 10 estimates/bids per week, depending on project size and complexityWork closely with ownership, estimating and operations to ensure competitive and accurate bidsParticipate in bid reviews and project handoffs following awardMaintain organized estimating records and historical pricing informationQualificationsApproximately 10+ years of electrical construction and/or estimating experienceStrong commercial interior fit-out experience is essentialDeep understanding of electrical systems, materials, labor and installation methodsLocal 3 experience strongly preferred, particularly candidates with prior field experienceExperience estimating commercial electrical projects ranging up to $5MAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and construction documentsStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage a high-volume estimating environmentKnowledge of the NYC electrical construction marketCandidates located in Staten Island, Brooklyn or nearby New Jersey are especially well positioned for the roleCompensationBase Salary: competitive depending on experienceBonus: Discretionary and performance-based, with stronger performance rewarded accordinglyOpportunity to join an established electrical contractor in a key estimating capacity
