Job Description

Summary

The Merchandising Trainee is a 12-month temporary position based in the New York corporate office supporting the Merchandising team. The role involves assisting Buyers with sales and stock analysis, preparing sell-through and seasonal reports, and supporting merchandising communications and assortment planning. This position provides hands-on experience in retail analytics, inventory transfers, and market preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and run weekly sales reports; prepare sell-thru reports and compile seasonal collection feedback.
  • Support Merchandising team with ad-hoc analysis, premarket analysis, and maintaining buy sheets during Buying Markets.
  • Prepare merchandising communications for stores, including weekly newsletters, seasonal selling tools, and product knowledge materials.
  • Compile competitive recaps on pricing, trends, and market activities to inform assortment decisions.
  • Assist with transferring and consolidating product across the region and follow up on product deliveries.
  • Support logistics for moving merchandise between stores, including coordination for exotic caravans.

Requirements

  • Active student in the NYC area (MBA or Undergraduate), preferably with Business Management or Fashion major.
  • Minimum 3 years of work or internship experience; experience in luxury/fashion a plus.
  • Available Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm; able to accommodate a 40-hour work week.
  • Very strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel and retail math, and experience creating reports and analytics.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and proficiency in English.
