Pharmacy TechnicianLocation: Nashville, TN/On-SiteDuration: 7 YearsHours Per day: 7.5Shift: 7am to 4pmJob ResponsibilitiesDispensing MedicationDispenses medication under the supervision of a pharmacist.Action Steps:Investigate medication related issues or missing doses as neededAccurately calculates doses to ensure an adequate supply in automated dispensing cabinet (ADC)Loads ADC in a timely and accurate manner according to max/min levels, adjusting for holidays and weekendsDelivers medications to patient units in a timely manner to ensure precise administration timesReplenishes unit floor stock medicationsPrepares discharge medications for patients by counting, labeling, and packaging the medicationConducts medication room inspections on a monthly basis and maintains up to date inspection logsInvestigate and compile information for Pyxis override reportsCompletes these tasks on a daily basis with an accuracy rate above 90%Completes tasks accurately and efficiently based on observation by the pharmacy directorMaintains Pharmacy Inventory and SuppliesAssists pharmacist with inventory of medications, supplies, and helps stock medications according to pharmaceutical protocols and procedures.Behavioral Action Steps:Receives and stores incoming medications and supplies in correct locationsRotates stock regularly, keeping notes of when medications and supplies expireMonitors and replenishes stock in ADCsCredits and returned items are processed within 72 hoursAccurately places returned medicines back in their appropriate locationsChecks for expired or short dated medications in ADCs and in med roomsAppropriately labels bulk medication and suppliesMaintains a compliance rate of 90% based on weekly reviews of remaining credits and supplies that are not inventoriedCompletes tasks on a daily basisProvides Information and Responds To RequestsProvides routine information accurately and responds to requests responsibly.Behavioral Action Steps:Provides professional, efficient, and courteous service to other healthcare providers as observed by pharmacy directorAnswers phone calls in the pharmacy in a timely mannerAble to correctly direct calls to the appropriate personnelReceives and conveys information requests between pharmacy and other healthcare providersResearches and provides information, locates items, refers to inquiries under pharmacist supervisionAssists hospital staff, patients, and other visitors at the pharmacy walk-up doorCompletes entries in the pharmacy intervention log when appropriateMaintains a compliance rate of 100% based on review of any verbal or written disciplinary actions due to professionalism related issues, as well as observation by the pharmacy director.Completes tasks on a daily basis
