Description
Position Summary The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, optimizing, and supporting a multi-site campus network environment. This role will manage and enhance network connectivity across campus locations using dark fiber and MPLS technologies.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on Cisco networking experience, solid network architecture and design skills, and practical experience with enterprise firewalls, wireless networks, and cloud-managed infrastructure. The Network Engineer will work closely with IT leadership, systems teams, security teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure a secure, resilient, and high-performing network.
Key Responsibilities Design,implement,maintain,andtroubleshootenterprisenetworkinfrastructureacrossmultiplecampuslocations.
Administerandsupportswitching,routing,wireless,andnetworkmanagementtechnologies.
Manageconnectivityutilizingdarkfiber,MPLS,Internet,andotherWANtechnologies.
Designandmaintainnetworksegmentation,VLANs,routingdomains,accesscontrolpolicies,andhigh-availabilitysolutions.
ConfigureandtroubleshootdynamicroutingprotocolssuchasOSPF,EIGRP,andBGP.
Troubleshootcomplexnetworkincidentsandperformroot-causeanalysis.
Participateinplannedmaintenance,changemanagement,disasterrecovery,andbusinesscontinuityactivities.
Createandmaintainaccuratenetworkdocumentation,includingtopologydiagrams,IPaddressplans,configurations,andoperatingprocedures.
Coordinatewithtelecommunicationsproviders,hardwarevendors,contractors,andmanagedserviceproviders.
Participateinanon-callrotationandrespondtocriticalnetworkoutageswhenrequired.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’sdegreeinInformationTechnology,ComputerScience,Engineering,orarelatedfield;equivalentexperiencemaybeconsidered.
Stronghands-onexperiencewithCiscoroutingandswitchingtechnologies.
Experiencewithdarkfiber,MPLS,Ethernettransport,andWANconnectivity.
Demonstratedunderstandingofnetworkarchitecture,redundancy,scalability,andhighavailability.
ExperiencewithIPv4,IPv6,VLANs,STP,trunking,portchannels,QoS,DHCP,DNS,NAT,andIPaddressing.
ProficiencywithroutingprotocolssuchasOSPF,EIGRP,andBGP.
ExperiencewithCiscoMerakiorsimilarcloud-managednetworkingplatforms.
Strongtroubleshooting,analytical,documentation,andcommunicationskills.
Abilitytomanagemultipleprojectsandprioritiesinadynamicenvironment.
Preferred Qualifications CiscoCertifiedNetworkProfessional(CCNP)orequivalentexperience.
PaloAltoNetworkscertificationorhands-onexperiencewithPanorama.
FortinetcertificationorequivalentFortiGateexperience.
ExperiencewithCiscowireless,Merakiwireless,orcomparableWLANplatforms.
Experiencewithnetworkautomation,scripting,orinfrastructure-as-codetoolssuchasPython,Ansible,orTerraform.
FamiliaritywithCiscoDNACenter,CiscoISE,networkaccesscontrol,and802.1X.
Experiencewithmonitoringandmanagementplatforms.
