Software Engineer

Job Description

Embedded Software EngineerWe are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer to develop, modify, and maintain embedded software solutions for avionics display systems. This role involves working closely with systems, software, hardware, and test engineers to ensure successful software integration and verification activities in compliance with DO-178C certification processes.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, modify, and maintain embedded software solutions for avionics display systems.Generate, review, and verify low-level software requirements.Perform software integration activities across multiple display applications and system requirements.Execute unit testing, requirements-based testing, and software verification activities.Support DO-178C certification processes and documentation efforts.Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and test engineers throughout the development lifecycle.Troubleshoot software and system-level issues during integration and testing activities.Participate in peer reviews, technical discussions, and engineering design reviews.Support onsite testing and validation efforts on actual display hardware and systems.Essential SkillsMinimum 3 years of Embedded C++ development experience.Minimum 3 years of experience supporting DO-178 programs.Minimum 3 years of experience supporting DAL A and/or DAL B programs.Minimum 3 years of Low-Level requirements development and verification experience.Minimum 3 years of Unit Testing experience.Minimum 3 years of Software Integration experience.Minimum 2 years of Full V to V lifecycle experience.U.S. Citizenship required.Additional Skills & Qualifications5+ years of all must-have skills.Aerospace or Avionics industry experience.Experience supporting display systems, flight deck systems, or human-machine interface technologies.Experience with requirements traceability and verification processes.Familiarity with software certification activities.Previous experience supporting major aerospace organizations like Collins Aerospace, Honeywell, Garmin, Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, or Lockheed Martin.Work EnvironmentThis role offers a flexible work environment, with opportunities for both remote work and onsite collaboration. Engineers will work directly with avionics display hardware and systems in Cedar Rapids, IA, and participate in system integration and testing activities. Remote work will involve supporting software integration, verification, and certification activities. Travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is required and flexible in scheduling, with travel expenses covered, including airfare, hotel accommodations, and rental vehicles as needed.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
