Senior Software Engineer The Uber Freight team is building a better future for FinTech. We believe that when shippers and carriers have the freedom to move together, the entire industry moves ahead. Our teams design and build innovative applications, infrastructure, and models to power Uber Freight. Utilizing Uber's foundational elements, these include the mobile app for Carriers, the portals and integrations that give Shipper's access to the platform, tools for our Operations teams, and all the underlying pricing, matching, and forecasting algorithms that evolve the freight industry forward. As a Senior Software Engineer at Uber Freight, you will design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend applications to improve Uber Freight's Transportation Management Platform. Our teams operate our business through amazing product experiences built specifically to deliver value to customers, whether on the supply or demand side of our market. You will be partnering with Product Managers, Designers, UXR & Data Scientists to bring agentic solutions to our users. At your disposal will be the tools that helped Uber grow to be a worldwide company, as well as new and upcoming tech from our Compute, Platform and Machine Learning teams. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's, or Master's in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of professional software programming experience Strong programming experience in Java and Go (Golang) Strong experience in design and leading backend micro services Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of data structure and algorithms and an ability to use them when implementing solutions. Experience handling complex problems at scale. Strong experience with SQL, Oracle, and JDBC Experience with Python, Spring Boot Go frameworks Experience with distributed systems and micro services architecture Strong understanding of system design, performance, and reliability Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or OCI) Experience working in cross-functional product teams Knowledge of the logistics, transportation, or freight industry is a plus Benefits & Compensation for U.S. Employees Employees working more than 30 hours in the US at Uber Freight are eligible for benefits like a company sponsored health plan, dental and vision benefits, 401k match, financial and mental wellness benefits, parental leave, short- and long-term disability coverage, life insurance and more. For California-based roles: The salary range for this role is $183,000.00 - $223,200.00 per year
