Position Summary

The New Student Programs Office Assistant provides customer service to students, faculty, and staff. The Office Assistant for New Student Programs works in conjunction with New Student Program peer mentors to better serve students and other members of the UIW community. The New Student Programs Office Assistant will report to the Director of New Student Programs.

Essential Functions

Assists in planning and coordinating of purposeful programs and activities for new students.

Supports the New Student Programs team to build community in The Landing.

Enhances the student experience by assisting in providing student resources for student success.

Assists the Graduate Assistant and Director in compiling content for flyers and social media.

Collaborates on and designs content for the notification boards located in The Landing.

Coordinates and manages departmental resources.

Maintains inventory of student snacks and other items provided in The Landing.

The Office Assistant is responsible for the general cleanliness, organization, and appearance of The Landing and NSP storage spaces.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to finish projects and/or communicate progress to peers and leadership in a timely manner.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to learn specific and different policy and procedures associated with the Office of New Student Programs.

Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Canva.

Intermediate level data entry skills to maintain records, including tracking visitors to the Landing and at NSP events.

Ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education

Completed 1+ years at UIW as a student.

Required Work Experience

Experience is not required, training is available.

Preferred Qualifications

Customer service experience in a high-volume setting.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

None.

Work Hours Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.; 8-10 hours per week.

Some early mornings, evenings and weekends required for specific meetings or events during the year.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 30 lbs.

Able to stand, bend, and reach to perform various tasks as needed.
