Job Description

Data Engineer IIIOur Deloitte AI & Engineering team to transform technology platforms, drive innovation, and help make a significant impact on our clients' success. You'll work alongside talented professionals reimagining and reengineering operations and processes that are critical to businesses. Your contributions can help clients improve financial performance, accelerate new digital ventures, and fuel growth through innovation.Work you'll do As a Data Engineer III on the AI & Engineering team, you will be responsible for:Design, code, test, debug, and document relational and analytical database solutions that address performance, scalability, security, and system-integration requirementsAdminister cloud-based database platforms using role-based access controls, schema management, performance tuning, capacity planning, and backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery practicesExtract, parse, validate, and transform structured and unstructured data using parameterized SQL, Python, and dbt; build and maintain data pipeline orchestration workflows with tools such as Airflow and Dagster; and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and data lineageImplement governed data sources and calculation logic for dashboard and reporting tools, including Tableau, and test filters, parameters, and user interactionsDevelop infrastructure-as-code, configuration-management, containerized deployment, and version-controlled continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and DockerPerform platform design evaluations and develop program plans and implementation approaches; design access models that support auditability and separation of duties; communicate cost, performance, scalability, and reliability tradeoffs; and train client personnel on data platforms and workflowsA successful candidate would possess these skills:Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a teamEffective written and verbal communication skillsMeticulous attention to detail and quality of work productAbility to build and sustain professional relationshipsAbility to lead projects or workstreamsAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentStrong interpersonal skills and professional demeanorAbility to meet deadlinesAbility to provide clear guidance to othersThe team Deloitte's Government & Public Services (GPS) practice – our people, ideas, technology and outcomes – is designed for impact. Our offerings help clients innovate, enhance and operate their data, AI, and analytics capabilities, ensuring they can mature and scale effectively.Qualifications Required:Bachelor's degreeAbility to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role7+ years of experience designing and coding databases for big data and administering cloud-based relational and analytical database platforms, including role-based access control and schema managementExperience designing databases for performance, scalability, security, and system integration; building and maintaining data pipeline orchestration workflows using Apache Airflow or Dagster; and developing Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, and dbt transformation logicExperience using infrastructure-as-code, configuration-management, and containerization tools, including Terraform, Ansible, and Docker; building version-controlled continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows; and supporting backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery planning for production database environmentsAbility to travel 10–15%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serveMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureThe wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $107,700 to $179,500.
