Production Manager

Job Description

Production Manager

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager will be based out of Westfield, Massachusetts and will be responsible for directing and coordinating all manufacturing activities in compliance with required output and quality standards. The Production Manager will participate in the overall direction of manufacturing processes and related specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee employee training, set departmental production and performance goals, organize work, and maintain a productive and motivational climate.
  • Oversee and participate in developing performance, efficiency, and product quality standards for the plant's production activities.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and technical support personnel regarding the coordination of plant standards with overall company objectives.
  • Manage production campaigns and inventory levels to optimize labor and equipment efficiencies.
  • Submit timely reports, as required, to the appropriate personnel.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the appropriate levels of labor, the general conformance with employee rules, the issue of warnings, and the administration of disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Ensure the safe and environmentally sound operation of all production processes through the supervisors and operators.
  • Develop and support the strategic business unit strategies for Operations.
  • Liaison between Operations and external organizations (i.e., customer and civic affiliations.)
  • Establish operating budgets and forecasts, reflecting current and future short-run production capabilities.
  • Mentor professional growth and development of employees in the Production Department.
  • Coordinate product transfers from R&D in cooperation with Engineering.
  • Serve as a senior member of the plant staff in the development and implementation of plant policies and procedures.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises site SOPs as necessary.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years experience in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
