Job Description / Essential Elements:

FRANKLIN-MCKINLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

CLASS TITLE: WAREHOUSE WORKER/DELIVERY DRIVER

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, receive, prepare and deliver warehouse materials, supplies, food, mail and/or equipment to various District locations.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Receive, fill orders and deliver warehouse supplies to various District locations; make special deliveries as needed. E

Deliver equipment, materials, food, mail or supplies to appropriate District locations; load and unload trucks. E

Operate a variety of equipment including a truck, forklift, pallet jack and other related equipment. E

Shelve and store items received in the warehouse; place food items in racks, coolers or freezers as assigned by the position. E

Prepare and maintain records related to assigned activities. E

Communicate with school and District personnel regarding the delivery of orders. E

Receive, meter and sort incoming mail as assigned by the position; deliver mail to various District locations and post office as appropriate; pick up mail from the County Office. E

Operate a computer as assigned.

Assist in warehouse inventory activities as required.

Perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:
Procedures, policies and objectives of assigned warehouse activities.
Materials, equipment and supplies used in a school district.
Record-keeping techniques.
Operation of a computer, fork lift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
District organization, operations, policies and objectives.
Oral and written communication skills.
Health and safety regulations.
Proper storage techniques.

Ability to:
Receive, prepare and deliver warehouse supplies to various District locations.
Operate a variety of warehouse equipment.
Maintain routine records.
Understand and work within the scope of authority.
Meet schedules and time lines.
Work cooperatively with others.
Observe health and safety regulations.
Maintain regular attendance.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with others.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years experience in a warehouse environment.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California driver's license.
Forklift Operator's license.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Environment:
Warehouse environment.
Driving a vehicle to conduct work.

Physical demands:
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling heavy objects.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate various warehouse equipment.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
Bending at the waist, kneeling and crouching.
Heavy physical labor.

Hazards:
Working on ladders.
Working around and with machinery having moving parts.
