Software Engineer

Job Description

Job TitleThis position will be responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of best in class software experiences.Essential Responsibilities:Responsible for designing, developing, testing, operating and maintaining productsTakes full stack ownership by consistently writing production-ready and testable codeConsistently creates optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; considers scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designsPerforms analysis on failures, propose design changes, and encourage operational improvementsMakes sound design/coding decisions keeping customer experience in the forefrontTakes feedback from code review and apply changes to meet standardsConducts code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development proceduresAccountable for ensuring all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practicesExhibits relentless focus in software reliability engineering standards embedded into development standardsEmbraces emerging technology opportunities and contributes to the best practices in support of the bank's technology transformationContributes to a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvementReviews tasks critically and ensures they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery; anticipates and communicates blockers and delays before they require escalationBasic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience - Two to three years of relevant experiencePreferred Skills/ExperienceExpert-level Coding Skills in Java, Spring Boot.Nice to have knowledge in Shell Scripting, GitLab, SQL and LinuxFunctional Testing experience, including ability to create, maintain and execute both manual and automated testsDevOps capabilities - containers, cloud, automation, security, configuration management, CI/CDExtensive knowledge in modeling and application design and architectureExperience in: Unit Testing (including automation and integration with CI systems) and Agile Software Development (typically Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)Strong understanding of system and network architectureAbility to identify, resolve, and retest defectsExpert skills in service virtualization, test case modeling, and test data management tools and processesLocation expectations This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.Benefits:Healthcare (medical, dental, vision)Basic term and optional term life insuranceShort-term and long-term disabilityPregnancy disability and parental leave401(k) and employer-funded retirement planPaid vacation (from two to five weeks depending on salary grade and tenure)Up to 11 paid holiday opportunitiesAdoption assistanceSick and Safe Leave accruals of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 80 hours per calendar year unless otherwise provided by lawU.S. Bank is an equal opportunity employer.
